Simplify

Hi everyone!

We had such a wonderful evening yesterday! We played live at the 'Vizit' cafe and the atmosphere and the audience were amazing. So many people came to us afterwards, to tell us how original and cheerful our music was. One person said: you totally cheered me up! That really means a lot, because spreading happiness is what we love to do!

We played our new song for the first time, but for those of you who couldn't make it last night, we uploaded it on Soundcloud! It's called Simplify. You see, a lot of our songs tend to be a little over the top and we wanted to make something more basic. Something simple. But... We failed! And we love it! We hope you like it as well. Please leave comments below, we love reading them!

Thanks for everyone who came, you were great!
To the others: next time!

Lots of love and rainbows and purple hippo's from
Tall and tiny

ps: videos and pictures of the gig will be uploaded soon!

Don't forget: gig time!

Hi!

We just want to remind you that we are playing live on friday 27/03! We'll be playing @Jeugdcentrum Vizit in Wilrijk (de bist) around 10pm and it is going to be awesome! We just rehearsed all weekend. We had to prep our songs so they would be playable live, which was a lot of work! Also, we've never played a long set like this before, with backing tracks, so we are very exited and curious to find out how it goes! Not to worry though, even when it goes wrong during our rehearsals, we still have tons of fun playing our songs. They are really growing on us...

Reasons to come?

♫ Tall and tiny is the best band ever!
♫ The cafe is super cozy, and at 8:30pm it's happy hour! Bubbles and wine for just 1 euro!
♫ We'll be playing a new song, entirely exclusive, yay!
♫ Because we really want you there! The more faces looking and the more bodies dancing: the better!

Still not convinced? Science!!

Haha, we're just kidding.
Though, you really should come and watch us play.
Like, really.

Fictional Humans of New York

Hi!

I just had to share this! You know the beloved and super-famous Facebook page 'Human's of New York' right? Well, someone made a fictional version of it with some photoshopping and it's really funny! Check out more @ this link!

Princess Rap Battle

Hi!

Remember when I posted a video showing Princess Leia in a rap battle against Galadriel? Well, here's another one! This is Cinderella VS Belle. And even though Belle makes some excellent points, Cinderella is Sarah Michelle Gellar. So... Yeah.. Cinderelli for the win!

Hope you are all having a wonderful day

Kanan comic + Star Wars updates

Hi!

I am so curious to find out more about Kanan's past! I read 'A New Dawn' (which I really recommend to Star Wars fans!) and found out a little bit about Caleb Dume already. However, more information will come to us soon, through a Marvel Comic series called 'Kanan: The Last Padawan' written by Greg Weisman and illustrated by Pepe Larraz. Yay for that! It won't be released until april 1st, but they've already given us a little preview. Yay again!

Oh! And they are adding a lesbian character to the Star Wars canon in the novel 'Star Wars: Lords of the Sith' so yay for that too! Diversity! (via Star Wars Underworld)

Oh, and there's more! There will be at least 20 new stories written about the period between episodes VI and VII. Rejoice! (via Star Wars Underworld)

International Women's Day 2015

Hi everyone!

Tomorrow is international women's day! I really wanted to write something here for this occasion. I've been seeing quite some things today already (since it's sunday tomorrow and all the mayhem is going on today instead). Friends of mine were encouraging women on the street to write down their 'catcalling' experiences on a big sign. Behind them was photo booth where women could have their picture taken together. The newspapers have all printed at least one or two articles about women's issues. A huge amount of bloggers is writing about it, even if their blog is not feminist-related.

What I find so remarkable about these wonderful acts, is that they are all trying to raise awareness. And that's beautiful, but also kind of depressing. Raise awareness. Awareness that is not there yet. When thinking of this, I feel like performing a very dramatic facepalm accompanied with a deep sigh. How is it possible, that after all these years, in 2015, in Belgium, we still have to 'raise' awareness?

Personally, I'm lucky enough to not have been seriously harassed in my life so far. However, I do get catcalled, a lot. And, even though that would not justify it,  it's not always because I dress so outrageously sexy or outgoing. I can wear sneakers, a pair of jeans and a thick winter coat, and they will still whistle, make kitty noises or say things like "hey baby" to me.

It makes me feel like I don't have my own space. Like the street I am walking on is theirs, and I don't belong there. Almost as if I should be happy that I'm allowed to walk there. Like I am an item that is up for grabs. Like I willingly put myself inside their territory, and should've stayed at home. And I hate it.

If you're reading this, and you have similar experiences, please share them with the people you know. It's valuable, because, unfortunately, raising awareness is really important. If you are reading this and you enjoy performing a catcall every now and then, please be aware of the fact that it is not a compliment that girls tend to enjoy. If you like a girl, or think she is pretty, go talk to her without scaring her, get to know her, respect her, and see where it goes from there.

And if you think girls and women who complain about these kind of situations are exaggerating. Guess again. Shit like this happens every day. I'm pretty sure many boys and men would be shocked to find out how often serious street harassment occurs. Once you've had a nasty experience, it's hard to feel at ease while walking the streets. Especially when getting catcalled.

Last but not least, I'd like to share the following one more time: if you think men and women should have equal wages, opportunities and rights, you are a feminist. Let us finally let go of the negative associations society has with feminism. Feminists are not insane man-haters. Feminists are people who believe in the importance of gender equality. Like you and me.

Star Wars: Rebels (finale)

Hi!

I haven't been blogging a lot lately because I've been so ridiculously busy! But here I am again, yay for the universe!

I have been watching Star Wars: Rebels and I have been dying to see the last episode. I'm so excited about it! Darn that 'to be continued' concept! Anyway, I was enjoying having some free time today (for a change) and suddenly realised I haven't tried the princess Leia hair since I dyed my hair brown. Say what?? So, even though my hair isn't that long, I made the buns and huzzah they are brown like they should be! I also customised my sketch book with the Rebel Alliance logo.

I am really looking forward to the season finale, but also know I'll be sad when it's over and the long wait for season two begins... That's why-- I got the book! Yes, there is a book that serves as a prequel to the series, which is called 'A New Dawn' and I am going to start reading it tomorrow. It looks very promising! Also, the author wrote a book on Obi-Wan. Might be a good read too.

If you are already watching Rebels, enjoy the finale! And if you aren't, give it a go! Personally, I prefer it to The Clone Wars. It's not as 'war-based' and really shows a wonderful group of new characters, developing in a very personal way.

Enjoy, and may the force be with you!

The Oscars 2015

Hi you!

You know those crazy people in Europe who stay up all night long to watch The Oscars live? Well, I'm one of them. I just love it so much! I always look forward to it, and get lots of candy and yummy drinks to help me last the night. Even though it's all kind of cheesy, I love the glamour, the fashion, the speeches, the show, ... basically the whole thing!

First things first: the red carpet! I'm really not a fan of E's Fashion Police, who pretend like they are the doctors who will professionally decide who gets to live and who will die based on what people are wearing. However, I do love all the fashion on the red carpet very very much. Every year I dream of what I would wear if I would ever go!

My favourites of the evening were Margot Robbie and Lupita Nyong'o. After Lupita's dreamy dress from last year's Academy Awards, I thought she would never be able to top it off, but she really did. She and Margot looked stunning from head to toe. Their look was complete, hair and makeup included.

I also really loved Zendaya (the hair and dress are a great combo), Cate Blanchett (original, as always), Zoe Saldana, Naomi Watts, Anna Kendrick, Keira Knightley, Rosamund Pike, Julianne Moore and Jennifer Lopez (for being one of the one women with a princess gown).

There were others who also had lovely dresses, but sort of had an incomplete look (in my opinion, anyway). I like the natural hair-and-makeup look when it matches the dress (as was the case with Keira Knightley), but always think it looks strange when combined with a glamorous dress (Reese Witherspoon, for example). Chrissy Teigen was the perfect palette with her mokka skin, blue dress and purple lips, but to me, the dress was a little too much 'out there' and lost some classiness points there.

Last but not least: the men! They always look so similar, when compared to the women. However, some of them really dazzle more than others. I liked the looks of Jared Leto, Benedict Cumberbatch (looking so happy with his new wife), Josh Hutcherson, Bradley Cooper, Eddie Redmayne (+ Anse Elgort who wore a similar suit) and Matthew McConaughey (who is rocking the 'chic hair with wild beard' look).

Okay, fashion aside now! The Oscars are really about the movies. I haven't watched all of the nominated films yet, but I really loved the ones I did! I will actually be writing some movie reviews soon! I think Birdman really earned their prizes, especially for best directing. In my opinion, Boyhood should have won some more. However, if I had to choose one prize to go to Boyhood, I would have given it to Patricia Arquette as well. Oh, and how amazing was her speech? I'm glad Big Hero 6 won best animated feature because I thought it was a really good and original movie. Also, The Grand Buddapest Hotel really deserved those technical awards, the film is stunning. More on Birdman and Boyhood later, as I will be writing some reviews soon!

Before I finish, I would like to say that I loved Neil Patrick Harris as the host! I guess you could say he was legen-- wait for it! -- DARY! I loved his intro song and he made lots of great jokes throughout the show. And the best part of the evening: everything is awesome. Obviously.
